other arrangements in respect of the Chinese Telegraph
Office in the colony. They prefer not to appear in the
matter but have made the suggestion that the Canton
authorities should be induced to make an official demand
for the removal of the office. The Cantonese while anxious
to obtain control of the Canton-Hong kong line would
however prefer that they should be put in charge of the
Hong Kong office rather than that the terminal station
should be removed to Cantonese territory.
